"HEY!!!, WHERES YOUR DRUMMER???!!!"
A word about Green Flem, Lid Dhagga and the Cabbage Night Orchestra
-specifically
quite an enchanting device...the drum machine of dr.
rhythm...the questions most often asked of the good dr
in regards to his choice of instrument have ranged
from:
"HEY!!!, WHERES YOUR DRUMMER???!!!" to
"so, how many delay pedals did you say you used?" to
"isn’t it difficult to play that thing with mittens on,
dr?"
don’t be baffled, don’t be afraid, this little wonder
was built, programmed, destroyed, re-built,
re-programmed, and then re-re-programmed by the good
dr himself.(the drum machine was destroyed again
recently, probably to make room for more delay
effects)
the dr, when asked why he
chooses to manually thump
the pads of a highly customized digital device, versus
smack the skins of a real set of drums, the dr simply
shrugged, as if to say "who the hell cares?"
the drs infectious, swirly
beats and frantic, reverb
saturated delay infested rhythms have been the
elasticised backbone for such soupergroups
as the
Cabbage Night Orchestra"(currently on temporary hiatus
due to a groin pull injury sustained by CNO's lead
vocalist/moogist green flem)also
the Balding Slug Band
incorporated the drs furious double-bass finger
technique on their debut album.
the device itself is a masterpiece. it emits such a
large level of cyclical electromagnetic pulses that
the dr has to wear special protective gear to protect
what remains of his already dulled five senses. the
machine is capable of reproducing every drum sound
imaginable i.e. 30,000 bass drum sounds,425,000hi-hat
combos, and 356,975 splash cymbal reproductions. not
to mention the effects! this beauty has 400,000
digital delay patches, which can all be ran at the
same time, and often are.
dr rhythm is a musical
mad genius-our next installment
will be an interview with the dr from his chalet in
