The Maggots and Two Virgins, live on the same stage!!! The part of Wrick McKnickNix will be played by his stunt double Sinister Finister that night!!

With the Donut Kings, this is another gig to be remembered. First time for
both bands at this venue. |

Another Mixers extravaganza. This gig was
just a diversion for a party for Green
and Sinister Finister.
Note that since Negative Ed broke a
string on the first note of the first song at the last show, everyone tried
to break this record. Slashy J. Izzbourne was outside trying to break his car before the
first note of the first song (he doesn’t know but there is no trophy
for that, you have to be on stage). Two Virgins stole the show, mostly because of Mooney. Curly got a Spector 5 string. Ill Review
is is yet another supergroup
made up of members of The Clams, 9th Wave and I think one member
used to be in Captain Beefheart’s Magic
Band…Punk rock to the max, the members of the McKnickNix
that were in attendance tried slam dancing and dislocated a hip. |

Another spectacular time
was had by all. With: Sub Zeros Version Larry has shared the stage with us before, they write
some hard tunes executed with great musicianship. They were back after two
years of a drummer absence. They did their excellent cover of Sweet Leaf
again, along with Chinese Rock by the Ramones, and The Sub Zeros are rumored to be a supergroup
consisting of members from 9th Wave, the Acoustic Surftones, 9th Wave, Death Toboggan, 9th
Wave and The Clams. The rumors proved to be true, great cover of Dead Kennedys Police Truck along with 9th Wave and
Death Toboggan classics. The Maggots opened the show at |

First gig of the new year,
a pre-Superbowl party, a benefit for Food Not Bombs, with:
A bunch of other great
singer-guitarists d_cyphernauts A great show, great crowd too. Perfect
Silence was awesome again, Mike M
and the other singer-guitarists were great (sorry, didn’t write down
their names), the d_cyphernauts showed up after playing another gig with about 5
minutes notice, they were a hip-hop group with excellent, intelligent lyrics. |

Plastic Box rocked the house as usual. Their fans rushed the stage, some of them throwing
their panties on the stage (unfortunately, none of the ones who threw their
panties on the stage were women, sorry This was our first gig
with The Ders.
They are fantastic, the very definition of eclectic. I knew we were in for a
treat when the guitar player (or is that the guitar playder) was warming up with a Birds Of Fire, a Mahavishnu
Orchestra song (unless that was wishful hearing). They did everything
from bluegrass to “Staying Alive”
(for those of you who are fortunately young enough not to remember the song
name and didn’t have to live through that era, it is a disco song from
the “Saturday Night Fever”
soundtrack by the Bee Gees; the
movie starred John Travolta) to an
excellent version of Pink
Floyd’s “Pigs” with the guitar player doing both the
keyboard and guitar lines, using his two-handed technique, and the bass
player singing the solos in the middle part. The drummder was great, playing with a
mangled thumb and not missing a beat. |

Benefit Gig for
Chum’s mom… with Plastic
Box, Two Virgins, Perfect Silence, Grayson Manor
(all the way from Georgia) & a guest appearance by Slashy J. Izzbourne, who will be on break
from his taping of the Tonight Show and Mad TV…more details as they
become available. This show was fantastic, a
good chunk of change was raised for Chum’s Mom. |

This was a great gig, we
played in the "mezzanine"
above the door, the crowd was great, the sound was perfect according to the bartender:
every instrument was heard loud and clear, it was just the right volume, the
only thing was that the kick drum couldn't be heard, but we will be buying a
1,000-watt powered subwoofer with the money we made that night. There were
over 400 people who came into the bar that night, nobody complained (!) and
several people commented on how good the band was and wanted to know where we
were playing next. There was no opening act, the Maggots couldn't get anyone to play that night; the lottery (see
June 29 gig) was considered a scam! |
|
|
Blondie's, |
Unfortunately this gig was
cancelled because they rented out the bar for a stag party...their loss. The Maggots played a private party that
night with over 250 people showing up and each paying a $10 cover (which
included a little bit of food). Another band to be determined by lottery was
supposed to play with them that night - 342 slips of paper with the names of
bands who want to do this gig with us written on them were put into a hat and
the lucky winner was The Turds...our apologies for the gig being cancelled;
this was an excellent opportunity for them. Apparently this lottery was
considered a scam by many bands who didn't win; it wasn't, we didn't even
know who The Turds
were before this. |

The Out Of The Garage IV
battle of the bands at Cargo's in Windsor Locks CT |
with Sugarfist, Evoke,
and the EchoJanes. Unfortunately Foghat and Evoke took 4th place. They kicked our asses at the El 'n' Gee (see below, March 1.
2002), but they were a little off due to technical difficulties (damn broken
guitar string and a bass rig that wouldn't cooperate). The Maggots
took 3rd place. The usual tomfoolery abounded, the Maggots requesting tips, and having a full-size garbage can to
collect them in. Sugarfist finished second. They are silly, but talented too. They played last,
but that did not deter them from giving it their all. The EchoJanes won, hands down in
my humble and biased opinion. Great musicianship, excellent vocal harmonies
and a great sense of humor, a rare combination. |

This gig was a great success. Plastic Box was phenomenal, and Two Virgins rocked the place down. Green Flem
was up next, and as usual the crowd wanted more. The McKnickNix played in a very
rare appearance and then Knucklehead

This was the Great Ape 2000 Millennium
Bash, brought to you by Jimm Wrann - With a bassy voice
second only to Bowser, House
of Death
Toboggan - Punk Rock. Punk Rock.
Memorable songs with a religious theme ( Version
9th
Wave - The classic surf combo
complete with Danelectro bass, go-go dancers, tiki torches, little umbrellas and pixie stix. They sound really tight and on it since the last
time I heard them. Two
Virgins - Great as usual; Beatle-esque sound with great vocal harmonies, and wah-wah bass!! (sounding suspiciously
like some old Cabbage Night Orchestra recordings). Dead
Earth - The Earth is Dying - God,
that is a bleak sounding song!! These guys rocked it out as usual, with the
unmistakable Plastic
Box - The
Spores - They are going to be
cursing us because they were heard singing the lyrics to "Transvestite
Tears" as they were leaving, and we know they will be singing it at work
all next week. They were also kind enough to cut a few songs from their set.
We will be gigging with them soon... The Maggots - The Maggots headlined this affair and hit the stage at |
